AI Mindstorm

Writer's picture: Angie CarelAngie Carel

I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning.

A 1920s Bauhaus-inspired abstract composition representing a 'mind storm.' The artwork features a structured arrangement of geometric forms, bold yet minimal in execution, using clean lines and balanced asymmetry. Thin black linear elements intersect and overlap in a rhythmic, architectural manner, guiding the eye through the composition. Gradated pastel shades subtly differentiate shapes from the background, adding a sense of depth and movement while maintaining clarity and function. The background transitions through a smooth gradient of light blue, soft whites, and pale pinks, reinforcing the modernist aesthetic.

Not my usual time, but lately, it’s happening more often. My mind feels like a storm that won’t settle—filled with panel discussions, podcast conversations, and meetings all swirling together.

So, I’m going to be vulnerable for a moment—for the sake of swimming upstream in this river of perfection on LinkedIn.

There are days when I feel completely lost. Days when I question if I’m really cut out for this. Days when I want to give up, throw in the towel, and just stop trying. Days when being the only woman in the “room” again feels SO FREAKING EXHAUSTING. And then there are days when I’m so tired of hearing narrow-minded takes on AI that I want to scream.

Recently, I was on a call with someone who made it clear that the AI I teach doesn’t hold real value because it’s not directly tied to a massive dollar amount. I held my tongue, but in my head, I was thinking, Yes, sir, it is everything. And honestly? That mentality is exactly why companies are failing at AI adoption.

The people I teach, the community I serve—they are looking for tools that make their lives better, processes that make their work more efficient, and ideas that make this technology accessible and empowering. And there is enormous value in that.

Imagine if everyone only cared about reaching the highest peak—the most glamorous summit. They’d miss everything along the way: the busy critters, the hidden streams, the wildflowers you’d never notice if you were only focused on the top.

There’s this constant tension between staying ahead and staying grounded. Between saying “yes” out of passion and saying “no” because you know your worth (and your values). Between excitement and exhaustion, confidence and doubt, full speed ahead and a full stop.

If you feel overwhelmed, I want you to know—I do too. There are days when I wonder if I can keep up. And this is my full-time work. There are days when I even wonder if I want to. But at the end of those days, I come back to one simple truth:

The work I do matters.

It matters because I know the magic happens when solutions start with people. Because I’m certain AI is about human connection and creativity.

This is my agenda. And guiding others through this messy, ever-changing landscape is my priority.

So if you’re feeling the weight of it all, know that you’re not alone. It’s okay to feel tired. It’s okay to feel lost. It’s okay to feel completely overwhelmed.

I am too.

But let’s keep going. Even when it’s a disaster. Even when it’s hard. Even when it’s a giant pain in the arse.

Because I care. And I want you to, too.
